Otter
Otter, a/a Ot/*
Assumed two copies of non-agouti and at least one copy of the still unproven Otter.
Variety not recognized / standardized in any clubs
Chromosome: Unknown
RVG description:
Initial tests indicates that the base of the first confirmed Otters are Mock Mink or Mink based. They develop a ticked coat after a few months and completely loses the warm brown tone of the Mock Mink/Mink ending in a cool ticked color that resembles a Blue Agouti with a white banding instead of fawn.
Prairie Paws Rattery is working hard on proving this gene as a dominant. The next step will confirm the validity of the claim that this is indeed a new gene. Unfortunately the gene seemed unviable and all rats were lost.
